House of Memories aims to recognise the emotional attachment to everyday objects as a sustainable behaviour through artistic and cultural contexts. In a fast-paced society filled with machines doing things "quickly and outside the natural rhythm of life" (Sarton M. 2014), a forgetting behaviour is being developed within people, making the replacement of a product much easier. By designing a nostalgic journey in the form of a traditional house, the exhibition aims to encourage the material memories of its visitors.

The exhibition, which takes place in two old Victorian houses in Peckham, has been spatially activated by the concept of memory. Inspired by Marcel Proust's Madeleines' phenomena, the process of remembering is translated into spatial layers.

Along with my research and spatial design, I developed a website that served as a virtual home for placing memorabilia. Visitors are invited to explore—open the wardrobes, peek behind doors, and delve into the jewelry boxes. Each corner of this House of Memories holds a photographic archive of personal objects contributed by people from around the world. These emotional artefacts embody specific memories, stories and secrets, which most of them have been shared with the author. The accompanying texts vary in style; some are detailed and descriptive, while others are brief, concise and even mysterious.

House of Memories aims to give importance to our artefacts and our relationship with them. As Louise Schouwenberg said, becoming emotionally attached to our possessions is the most accessible way to be sustainable.
